When we designed the upgrade of the Dalby Regional Saleyards, we had the safety of both the livestock and our patrons forefront in our mind. Our world-class facility is now delivering better outcomes for sellers: the lower stress levels resulting in higher selling prices and better quality beef products. But it’s also delivering a safer environment for both our patrons and the animals, and helping us meet our operating responsibilities.

Our modern drafting pens are now automated, moving 180 head of cattle per hour. The drafts are controlled by an electronic panel located on the overhead walkways, which means we’ve significantly reduced human-animal contact and greatly reduced one of the major safety risks that comes with dealing in livestock.

With a strong focus on biosecurity and environmental compliance, we’re also fully equipped and prepared for livestock crises. Our notable improvements in stock control and personnel access means that, in the event of a national livestock standstill biosecurity event, we can secure the complex and the cattle quickly and safely, ensuring the wellbeing of our patrons and livestock as per Dalby Regional Saleyards Biosecurity Management Sub PlanDalby Regional Saleyards Biosecurity Management Sub Plan
